"Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly."
— Martin Luther King, Jr.
"Ten million people cycle through our jails every year. The abuses they endure, the diseases they contract, the traumas they suffer inevitably come back to haunt the rest of society. There is no Iron Curtain separating them from us. They are us."
— Alan Elsner

URGENT REQUEST FOR INFORMATION
Please contact us if your
family has been separated by a BOP transfer to a prison out-of-state, out-of-region,
and farther from your home and your loved ones release address.
When prison officials abuse prisoners in their charge they commit a crime that
is condoned by the silence of their colleagues, the tactical neglect of elected
officials, and the apathy of the American public.
The treatment of prisoners in Abu Graib prison in Iraq and the prison at Guantanamo
Bay pale in comparison to what occurs in jails and prisons throughout the U.S.
Abusive treatment and willful neglect of prisoners is as much a crime as abusive
treatment and willful neglect of the elderly and disabled in nursing homes.
If you agree and would like to help end the abuse and medical neglect of men,
women, and juveniles confined in prisons and detention centers, contact
us.
We are not "soft on crime"; we feel that the abuse and neglect of
prisoners is a crime.
Our goals:
- end immunity from criminal prosecution of prison officials, prison guards, and prison medical staff
- amend the prison grievance system and the Prison Litigation Reform Act
Endorse our petition to Congress
seeking an outside investigation into the treatment of federal prisoners, which
will bring change to state prisons as well
